Okay basically.....HELP
I have a goal in life to work on the railway - i have a successful application at present and am awaiting interview dates to be sent, which may not be until early next year.
As i am looking to relocate, i would like to get a job in the same area as my girlfriend, move in with her, and so on etc, and then when that job comes up, go for it. I know i can do that job, i guess that depends on that interview but yeah anyway...
So i have been applying for call centre jobs, and getting nowhere. I dont know where i am going wrong. I have always throught my telephone manner to be good, i work with a telephone now and nobody has ever complained about me at least heh.
Any general tips with telephone interviews?
I tried so hard on my last one, to research the company, find facts i could state (and did state), tried to sound happy and not nervous or worried. I thought i had done okay, but obviously not.
I am inexperienced at the kind of work they offer, that much is true, i accept that - but how the hell does anyone ever get started if that is the case? Obviously I havent told them of my plan to leave should this other job come up in the pipeline, but who knows - maybe if i ended up liking it there enough i would stay there anyway?!
What can i do!
When they ask questions like, how i have achieved targets and etc, then i guess what i do now is totally irrelevant to that job they are offering.
Sorry, im just so frustrated. |

Hi greateastern and welcome to our forums! 8)
Although it's easy to say, try not to become too disheartened by your previous application. As you've stated, you had researched the company and tried to sound confident. It could purely be that someone with more experience than you was offered the job - not that you've done anything, "wrong".

| Thank's for giving the specific link cvstore. I haven't experienced any telephone interviews that's why I'm eager to learn tips from you. At least if ever I'll encounter such kind of interview, I'm well-prepared. |

| I heard that you actually have to have a certain phone etiquette about yourself. I havent' researched it but I know you have to have it. |

| Anyone in this board encountered a phone interview in a wrong place and not in the right time? How you deal with it? |
