Hi,
I have a phone interview coming up. During this interview I will be asked about a general topic and I will need to talk about it for about 20 minutes. So, I would like to ask: if I tell the interviewer to give me 5 minute to make up my mind and to write a short list about the points I am going to discuss, would that have a negative effect on the outcome of the interview  ??
If you have other advices I would be very thankful :) |

Hi and welcome to our forums! :D
This is a difficult question to answer. For example, the company may want you to use the full 20 minutes to talk about your answer; or, on the other hand, this may take into consideration the fact you need to plan what you're going to say.
It might be worth calling the company and asking beforehand. Or, if you have an idea as to the subject area of the question, you could make some notes before they call as a brief guideline?
Sorry we couldn't help any more than this... |

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply. What I know is that they do not want u to be prepared for it, because they do not care about your knowledge. They just what to see how you can analyze that topic. They said that it will be a global topic. For example they asked one of my friends:
'' What do you know about Tourism? ''
So, I do not know what to expect and if you have any idea please advice me.
Thanks again for you help. |

| Just play it cool and be calm. You're nervousness will show over the phone if you let it. Know your resume and know who you are. |

| What's the minimum time of phone interview? My cousin's phone interview last month lasted for 30 minutes. |

| I'm not sure if it would be ok to ask to write some things down first or not. It depends if they are more interested in what you have to say or what you are able to come up with under pressure and under a time limit. |
