When do you turn down an offer?

An alarm usually goes off in my head when an interview includes questions about my hobbies, or any of my personal time. In fact, I have turned down jobs if the interviewer had asked me such questions, then called to ask that I start working for the company.

Under what circumstances would you turn down a job offer?

I stopped the interview process twice in my life before it got to the point of whether or not I got a job offer. The first was because of the uncertainty of travel. I love business travel, and have always welcomed it. One potential employer stated that it was required to keep luggage with at least 1 week's worth of travel necessities at the office because it was not uncommon to find out on any given day that I would have to travel the same day for an extended trip.

The second time was for a relocation job when I decided it wasn't a place I wanted to relocate to.

    Coda1108,

Having to keep baggage packed at a job that wasn't associated with emergency response or humanitarian aid sounds the company is disorganized, a best!
