Too Sooon to Apply

I've been working with one company for 3 years now. I sent int an application 2 months ago for an internal promotion to a better paying position. Thanks largely to the help from the people on this site, I got that new job.

So I've been in this new job 10 weeks now - but a further internal promotion has come up on the internal company job-board and I really want it. It's truly where my career goals were headed. And it's come up about 2 years too soon

Dilemma: Do I apply for it anyway even though I've only been in the new job 10 weeks?
Or will applying for - and then not getting it - ruin any chance of getting cross-trained around in this new job I've just taken

I would apply for it. The worse thing that can happen is that you're told you were just promoted and you have to stay at your new position for a certain amount of time.

    Couldn't hurt to try.

I think you should apply for it, as long as your company doesn't have any rules regarding how long you have to stay at a particular post before advancing.
Even if you don't get it, the company will probably be more willing to give you reponsibilities that will prepare you for the job in the future.

Okay I've applied for it. The applications for this job close next Wednesday. I put in my CV and application letter on Friday.

    Fingers crossed it goes well!
