I has always found that a in person interview is more personable. I have been applying for some jobs on Monster.com. I thought that I would be going in for interviews instead they have done the interviews over the phone. To me doing a phone interview seems inpersonable then during it in person.

If I will be telecommuting, the last thing I want to do is meet the HR person face to face. Part of the joy of telecommuting is the lack of personal contact.
If I am interviewing for a position that requires I go to the employer's office, then I want to evaluate the work environment, which requires the interview be in person.
