Application form technique

Other the past few months, I feel I've become something of an expert when it comes to application forms (having applied for numerous jobs). Because of these extensive number of applications, I found the best thing to do was complete one, photocopy it, making sure all spelling is correct, then copying the details onto other forms I needed to complete.

Also, by doing this, I was able to constantly improve on little bits here and there.

  2. That's a good idea - especially if you're applying for similar vacancies.

However, if you decide to apply for a different job, you may need to target the answers you give to a specific skill set.

Yes, Peter. I've done that too. I always think twice before filling out a long ap. Do I really want it? I guess I got spoiled from being hired a few times with just a resume and references.

It's also a plus factor if you'll specify your employment history. It gives a good idea to your future employer. I used to indicate my previous job description so that he or she will know that I'm dedicated employee.

It is a good idea but also remember that it is important to keep different copies for different jobs since each job will come with its own set of questionnaires relevant to it.

The hardest thing to me is keeping up with the old addresses and phone numbers. I always forgot those. That's why I keep an old application around.

This sounds like a great idea! That way you aren't constantly looking up data that is asked on every application form. Just remember to change things up when necessary to showcase your skills for a particular job.

I'm a little confused. If you're filling out the application at the interview how can you photo copy it?

I've never filled out an application at home and would never even think to ask for a copy of it at the interview.

It's a great idea if you can do it.

I'm actually happy to write out a new application form along with a letter to the interviewer for each job. This way I can tailor the information to suit what they're looking for.
