How far do you drive to your current job location and what is it costing you these days for gasoline? I drive quite a few miles per month delivering Avon so it varies each month. I also do some of my deliveries on foot which helps. Still, gasoline prices are really cutting into my profits.

The way gas prices are these days, I am lucky I am only about 20 minutes away from where I work.

I'm lucky. I work at home so it doesn't cost me a cent. But if I have to get into Manhattan I just take mass transit. The subway is a block away from my house and once in Manhattan it's usually a pretty short walk to where you have to go.

My average drive is less than 20 minutes using side streets. The distance varies because I work as a substitute teacher with the school district.
We are fortunate in that we bought a home in the downtown area, so if things got really bad, I could take light rail or the bus to a school.
Next year, 3 schools are being consolidated into a building that is close enough that I can see it from my front door. It will be a walk of about one block when I substitute there, which I plan to do often!

I work from home, but my husband drives to work and it's costing us hundreds a month.
