Dress to be remembered?

I have my friend who always goes with a unique thing (e.g. Luminous color tie) to interviews so that the interviewer can always 'remember him'. Any logic?

I don't think it would hurt to do something that makes you "stand out" from the crowd. Especially if they interview a lot of people.

I know that where I work dress was not even part of the equation, but each company is different!

I think that's fine but you have to keep it tasteful and it needs to reflect the personality of the person...not everyone can pull that off. Statistics show that navy blue is the best color to wear in an interview (at least that's how it was when I was in college) so if wearing something that stands out is going to make you look odd or weird and not remembered in a good way, then it's better to stick with the basic interview wear.

I guess that's an okay thing to do but what if you wear something so outrageous that you give a bad impression? The best thing to do is to dress appropriately and hope that your answers and personality will make the company remember you not some crazy tie.

The first thing in my mind after reading that question was a girl in the reception area waiting for the same interview as I was.

She had three nose-piercings, two eye-brow piercings, a tattoo coming up her neck and shocking pink hair.

But she wore a lovely, elegant suit that looked tailor-cut and not cheap!

Not a good lok - but surely unique

Thanks guys i see your reasoning and i guess overdoing it would be dangerous. I can say that it may give interviewer reasons to remember you either in a positive or negative way.
