Have you ever simply walked out on a job?

I have been fortunate that I could always come up with a reason to leave for the day, then call and tell folks that I wouldn't be coming back, but I know folks who have just walked out on awful work conditions and managed to find new jobs without any trouble.

Have you ever become fed up and just walked out?

I've been fed up enough to leave suddenly for a long lunch, but I've always given notice when quitting. The only way I'd walk out is if I was totally wronged in some illegal way.

I would never walk out on a job. I have been fed up with my job at times I would NEVER call in the next day and tell them that I am not coming back. I will take a long lunch or break to calm down.

Jenbear, can you think of a situation where you might not behave as you usually would?

What if someone was extremely abusive? What if a supervisor demanded you do somthing you knew was wrong or went against your personal ethics?

I walked out on my first job. I was there for five years and the conditions and the way I was treated were getting worse and worse. One day I just couldn't stand it any longer and I went to my manager and told her I was leaving for good at that moment.

A friend of mine left that same company a month or so before I did and found another job. When I told her I had left she set up an interview for me at her new job. I was hired right away.
