Social Work graduates are in high demand and the completion of this course can lead to challenging positions requiring knowledge of childcare, assessment, planning, intervention and review, human growth and development, mental health and disability.
In the first two years, students take courses in Social Work and Social Enquiry alongside courses from other disciplines. Students with relevant qualifications may be considered for advanced entry to the second year. In the second year students must choose whether to continue towards the professional qualification or switch to another degree programme in the College. Progression to the professional qualification is subject to interview and those who pursue this route undertake a further two years study to gain the BSc Social Work (Honours), which is the professional qualification in Social Work, recognised by the SSSC. Entry requirements: 180-200 points to include 2 A levels plus GCSE Maths and English grade C or above. Police and medical screening is also required.
